On William Nylander’s Status

“We’ll see tomorrow. Glad he stayed out there the whole practice and participated, which is good news. Obviously he’s getting better, so we’ll see where he’s at tomorrow morning.”

On Calle Järnkrok

“He’s day-to-day right now. We’ll see. He might be available tomorrow, but I don’t know. Lower body.”

On Anthony Stolarz’s Mental Reset

“I think having a full day off Saturday was a good mental break for him. He’s been thrust into this situation with Woll being out, and he’s played a lot more than he’s used to. It was just more about the mental side of things — giving him a chance to reset.”

On Joseph Woll’s Preparation and Work Ethic

“Very prepared guy. Does a lot of stuff off the ice with preparation. Extremely hard worker. There were times last year we had to pull him back in practice — he’s a second and third effort guy. Very talented goalie who’s always prepared.”

On Why Sammy Blais Hasn’t Played Yet

“It’s just a numbers thing. With Cowan getting going and different guys in the lineup, that’s really it. We picked him up off waivers, which is great, but it’s just been a roster numbers situation.”
“Sammy’s a physical player who likes to throw his body around on the forecheck. From coaching him before, I know he’s got really good hands and can make great plays in tight. He’s got a good shot too. He’ll go out there, finish his checks, and make the other team uncomfortable.”

On Dakota Joshua’s Growth

“He’s feeling more comfortable as it’s gone along. That line’s been good for us — strong down low with the puck, responsible defensively, taking D-zone faceoffs. They’re killing penalties and now scoring some goals too. We need that secondary scoring.”

On the Robertson–Matthews–McMann Line

“Speed — lots of speed on the wings. They were getting on top of people. It was a good goal by Nicky coming in off the bench and finding that hole. Nicky’s got speed, Bobby’s got speed, Matthews has speed — it’s a fast line. They just need to play direct and be responsible defensively.”

On Injured Players (Tanev, Laughton)

“Tanev maybe late in the week. He won’t play tomorrow. As for Scott, maybe Friday in Philly — we’ll see. He’s starting to ramp up.”

Pulse Takeaway

Berube’s availability reflected calm confidence. Nylander is progressing, Stolarz received a much-needed reset, Woll’s preparation continues to earn praise, and the Leafs’ depth pieces are carving out defined roles as the team builds consistency.
