Beyond The Score: Blue Jays vs Mariners (ALCS Game 6) – Poised for Game 7

Some nights, the story is written before the first pitch. As a fan, I always wonder what it’s like for my team’s players going into an elimination game. Are they stressed? Do they feel the weight of it all? Sunday night, the Toronto Blue Jays answered with a resounding no, securing their Game 6 win over the Seattle Mariners and forcing a decisive Game 7.

The Jays looked confident, comfortable, and ready from the moment they took the field. Trey Yesavage added to his growing legend, throwing an impressive 5⅔ innings of two-run ball. On offense, Toronto played the best version of themselves. They rallied in the second inning, scoring two runs, with the bottom of the lineup delivering big moments. Addison Barger shined, first with an RBI single and later with a two-run homer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued to cement his postseason legacy with another home run.

But above all, it was the defense that stole the show, turning three double plays in consecutive innings, including two with the bases loaded. Safe to say, the Blue Jays were firing on all cylinders in Game 6.

We know who the Jays are and what they’re capable of. As Toronto fans, the words Game 7 strike a mix of fear and excitement into our hearts. Yet this team feels different—they feel ready. Tonight, they have the chance to prove it and potentially advance to the World Series for the first time since 1993.
